Wedding 101

Hey guys, Cary’s here. It’s been a while since the last time I write. Well, bee is so excited with her pregnancy. I remember the first time she tells us about the news, we’re on a blackberry group chat and she was like giving us this blushed face emoticon and making us wondered what happen. HAHA! But anyway, we’re so excited for Bee and hope for the very best for her and the little baby^^

As you know I got married last June. I was waiting 'til I got all my wedding photos and I’m running down options of what I will write, not gonna blab around my whole wedding details since it might get a little overdue by now. LOL. So, I’m gonna write down some tips for you beautiful bride-to-be's since we got all the stress from planning a wedding!

At the beginning of my wedding planning process, I spent so much time on researching about wedding, the traditional wedding, the modern day, etc just to get a basic idea. I mean we ‘re all been to a wedding but it is the first time that we’re actually getting married, doh! So I wanna know more. It may be good for you to actually have a basic understanding of the tradition especially if you or you partner come from a traditional background.

Tips #1. Let’s talk.
Sit with your partner and talk about what you like your wedding to be. What you and your partner’s family expected on the wedding, is there any kind of tradition of what you need/must/mustn’t do at the wedding. Let’s make everything clear so both party will live happily ever after.

Tips #2. Money & Budget.
Well, by now you should have decide who will pay for the wedding. Is it the grooms family, both families, or the bride&groom themselves. But either way, you need to have a budget planning on your wedding. It’s a good idea to write down every details of your wedding. Ie, venue, decoration, bridal, etc. and put down your budget for each, if you have no idea how much the usual price, have a quick research on how much each item should cost and decide are you going to pay lower or higher. You don’t want to overbudget yourself, coz if you don’t have the budget in writing you will think you can add everything and at the end of the day you’re paying too much. Well, unless if you have tree that produces money and you're swimming in diamonds and golds.

Tips #3. Don’t over think it!
As the bride-to-be, I understand you will spend hours and hours on internet or magazine flicking through wedding photos, details, etc. DON'T THINK TOO MUCH! Everything will look good, will look pretty, page by page it will look prettier than what you chose yesterday. It happened! I stressed myself out because of this. I choose how my wedding dress looks like, I love the design so I took it to the designer and ask her to design similar for me.  I regret it the next day, coz I saw a better design T^T that happen to every detail of my wedding, so my tips is. Don’t think too much, everything will look better than what you choose! It’s just the stressed before the wedding. So breathe in, breathe out. RELAX. You already know what you want back in your head, so don’t poison your brain by thinking too much. If it's happen, stop whatever you're doing stop looking at the wedding magazine and internet. Seeing too much can add more stress, pictures can be deceiving.

Tips #4. You can’t always have what you want.
This is how budgeting helps, as the bride we usually want something out of the ordinary. We want our wedding to be magical, unforgettable, better than our friends. But we just can’t have it all! So please be reasonable. You can have a beautiful wedding without paying unreasonable amount of money by ordering some costume design bejewelled wedding shoes from Iceland (this is random, but Iceland kinda pop-up when I write this. LOL)

Tips #5. It’s your BIG day, Smile and enjoy the ride.
This it, after months of planning your wedding day is arrived. Things can go wrong! But whatever happens on the big day of yours! SMILE! Enjoy it, you’re the king and queen of the day! This is the happiest day of your life! Whatever happen, be happy. You don’t want to ruin your wedding photo. Relax and enjoy the ride! It’s not about the big beautiful wedding, it’s about the life after this. You will go through so much after this day, make a beautiful story. Perfect wedding celebration does not mean a perfect marriage life. Even if you have the simplest wedding, you can always have a happiest marriage from here after.

Hope this simple tips will help you to relax. Share your worries to your partner/best friends/maid-of-honor, it will help you relax a bit. One more thing, Men are designed not-to fussed about the whole wedding thing, so if you keep on nagging them about wedding wedding wedding they’re not gonna like it - just fyi. So go out with your besties, have a chat and you’ll be find it’s not the end of the world if you can’t have those wedding shoes or the wedding ring is over your budget or you're dream wedding venue is over booked! It’s not always about that, it’s about living a life together from this day forward for better or worse, through tears and joy, through sickness and in health. Til death do you part.

So, cheers to a new life as husband and wife! I put some of my wedding photos, hope you enjoy. This is the Holy Matrimony Part and a simple dinner reception in Bali, we will be having another reception in Bandung this December :)
